Hope this dragon year bring happiness for all of us!^^

Well, maybe you can understand why I write it in red.. 

It's Chinese New Year! 

And Chinese people believe red color will bring luck for all of us! =D 

A week before today, 

it's the busiest days..

Why? Because I need to tidy up my house,

Change the old tablecloth with a new one, change bed sheet with a new one, or buy new clothes for today.

Not only about home, but we also buy oranges or apples in supermarket to give people that we know, like family, relation, friends, etc..

Apples and oranges or even cakes or cookies are representing us to say "happy chinese new year.. hope this year will bring you prosperity, healthiness, and happiness".

It has been a tradition since our ancestor, to do that. We believe, if we can pass through Chinese new year, we have been blessed. We given times to pass another year.

So, we giving people foods as wish for them is like we are saying thank you to God.

I also making chocolate with a cute shape to celebrate Chinese new year..

This time of the year is one of the busiest day after christmas, valentine, etc for bakery.

Last time I went to bakery to buy things for my friend, the bakery is so crowded.

Neither the supermarket, to buy oranges, good one, we need to book it first so we can't get sold out.

Social Study? Not Really.

Hey! It has been busy days this several days.

Many assignment, many things to take care.

Especially Chinese New Year is near, so many things to do.

Now, I want talk about my latest assignment.

I think it's interesting.

So, my lecturer ask my class to find an Indonesian designer, high-class one, and research about them.

I immediately think about Oscar Lawalata. 

Well, I don't know, but I like him since I was.... I forgot actually.

When I told my lecturer, sir Anggra that I chose Oscar Lawalata.

He said it's interesting, because Oscar is an Indonesian designer who loves to play with batik in his designs.

Then I browsed his fashion show to see his collections. I looked at his website also to see latest collections.

These are few of his collections.

As the picture shown above, we can see, Oscar's design is not always Indonesian though he always use Indonesian fabric pattern.

But he inspired by so many culture. He likes to infuse several cultures in a cloth.

For me, what Oscar did is a great thing. IT'S A NEW WAY TO ACCEPT MULTICULTURALISM IN OUR COUNTRY.

When we elementary student, we got social study, right? We have been taught to accept people though they are different races.

But, as we grow up, we forgot about that study. We as a part of a big country, still feel hard to accept people who are different from us. We still confuse how to express our acceptance with people who are different. 

Oscar make a new way. He is not only a designer for me. He is also a informal teacher, who through his designs, he teach us to accept multiculturalism. 

It's a new day, people! It's a modern era!

We don't have to lecturing people about acceptance or multiculturalism. We can still show it by fashion, maybe like Oscar.

It's a new day!

Multicultural is good! It's okay to be different! Different is beautiful!

Can you imagine if all the people in this WORLD all the same? same race.. same skin color.. same language.. same dialect..

It's BORING!

If it's color palette, it's only white or black.. it's boring..

but if multicultural, it's like rainbow's color. so colorful..

Logo.

Last post, I talked about my business. 

Few days ago, I just changed my online shop logo.

I changed it because I think the first logo is too simple. So I tried to make a new one. Besides that, I also want to know how my photoshop's skill too.

=D

The concept is still the same, cute and feminine.

But, I add vintage touch on the 2nd logo to give chic feeling. I gave it vintage touch through the background which is old paper look-like, the film strip roll because I think film strip roll is really vintage.

Business.. Business..

Several days ago, I busy with my business.

Well, I opened an online shop.

After I helped my sister for her engagement party,

I stayed home.

Then, I didn't have much time to rest, because someone came to my home.

She's from expedition office.

She came with my things that I imported.

If last time I imported dolls or sanrio things, now I try to imported fashion accessories.

Like bracelet, necklace, etc.

I also try to imported scarfs.

After I tidy up all the things, I did the accounting.

Half done, Half still not.

Hope can finish it as fast as I can, so I can start the business immediately.

Well, it's early morning. I know.

And the rain is pouring outside.

Actually I've been slept since 10 P.M, but suddenly my phone is ringing.

I answered it, it's my mom.

She hysterically tell me about my aunt.

Let's move to couple days ago.

Last Sunday, my mom, my aunt and my uncle went to Singapore.

My aunt's eyes have problem, she can't see clearly.

Before going to airport, my mom asked me my boyfriend's - Tommy - phone number.

Then I gave her.

My mom can't speak English, neither my aunt and uncle.

They can only speak Chinese.

So, they need him to help them if they need it.

This morning, my aunt check her eyes in hospital. Doctor said there's nothing wrong with her eyes, just cataract. And it's a simple operation to remove it.

I heard that news from my mom, and feel relieve.

After I took care several things, I had a sleep. I didn't turn off the TV, I'm too scared to sleep when there's a  big rain pouring outside.

Then my phone rang.

It's mom.

She said, she lost her another phone that keep Tommy's number and asked me to tell Tommy to come to the hotel.

When I asked why?

My mom said : Your aunt is trembling now, her heart is beating fast.

She hysterically said it to me.

I'm so panic. I immediately called my boyfriend, he has already slept also.

Then, I called his friend, Kelvin and told him to awake Tommy.

I told Tommy to come to the hotel now, because my family need him.

After a little talk, he went there with his friend, Vincent. 

Last news I got, about half an hour ago from my mom, Tommy helped them talked to doctor.

The doctor speak English, that's why they needed Tommy.

Well, I'm writing this not to try to be melancholy.

But, I want to say thanks to my boyfriend.

Because what he has been done for my family.

Not only this, but million other things.

This post, 

I dedicated it to Tommy -my boyfriend- and my aunt.

I hope you'd be alright, aunt. I'm sorry I can't be there with you.

I don't know. But, I think this tragedy happen because God want to make me realize how much I love my aunt, and I don't want anything bad happen to her.

And make me realize also how much my boyfriend loves me, didn't care with himself, think to help my family.

It's for you, cousin ^^

It's Saturday, 7th January 2012 to be exact.

Tonight, my cousin, will have Engagement Dinner.

This dinner has already been arranged since a month ago.

So, all the family really busy do something to help my cousin to prepare this dinner.

Last Monday, 2th January 2012 *a day after new year's day* my cousin, oh! her name is Ita. Yes, she's a woman. called me and asked me to make a angpao box for her for tonight.

And I agreed to make her one.

So, the theme is pink.

That's all she told me, just the theme, is pink.

Nothing else, for other things are up to me she said.

Well, it's her big day *2nd big day after wedding dinner*

So, I want to help her. By the way, she also told me not to forget to tell her the price, so she can pay me.

Here, I want to share what box I made to her.

First, I went to the mall last Tuesday, to buy a cardboard.

A good one, so it can build a nice structure.

Then, I cut into several pieces to make a box

Then, the box is done!

After it done, I thought I need to cover it with wrapping paper.

A good one, so I went to Grand Indonesia.

I got it, it's in the wrapping gift center in Seibu on kid's toy section, near restroom.

*Paper : Rp 20.000/sheet, the box need 2 sheets only*

After I covered the box with wrapping papers, I decided to use fabric ribbon for the edges.

*Silver fabric ribbon : Rp 6.500/ 3 metres*

I thought it can't be that simple, or that plain. Then, I went to a small stationery store near my house, to buy decoration.

*Flower decorations : Rp 36.000*

Total cost : Rp 120.400,00

Yesterday afternoon, I attached the decorations on the box.

And it's done!

For the glue and several decorations, I took it from my storage when I was high school student. =D

At last, I did it for free. I hope it can be a beautiful gift for her engagement day.

"Sis,, I want Hello Kitty!"^^

This is my new project.

It's Kids Bedroom, the size of the bedroom is 3 m x 3 m

The owner want to have Hello Kitty theme, but it can be for boy and girl.

For now, I have 1 niece, but I will have a nephew in a few months later.

You've seen my cute niece.. Now, I show you my design for her bedroom.

As you all can see, my color palette is pink, blue, green, yellow, white, and brown.

I got pink and blue from hello kitty and her boyfriend dear daniel.

For yellow and green, I chose this color to give cheerful feeling.

Last, white and brown color. I use this as the neutral color.

Abel's mom said to me that she wants her kids bedroom in hello kitty theme, so it must be has kitty head in it.

So, I did it literally, I put kitty head as headboard and as wood panel in front of the bed.

For the wood panel, I also give it a shelf, so they can put TV or book or something on it.

For the door, I make it glass door, so the parent can see her children without entering the room.

I don't want the wardrobe so plain, so I give it stripes texture

This the bed I told you before.

Why is it pull-over bed below? Well, the parent will have 2 children.

1 girl (Abel) and 1 boy (still in her mom's belly)

The room is only 3 m x 3 m, so I can't put king size bed, cause it will ruin the circulation in it.

When I asked them, they said, they don't want a bunk bed, it's too dangerous.

That's why I used pull-over bed like that.

For the wall, I got inspiration from hello kitty's house.

Overall, I designed it as my client's wish, Hello Kitty theme.

And I've already submitted it to her parent for this design.

We also have been discussing for the contructor, because all the furnitures in it will be custom made.
I hope they like it and satisfied with my design.
